I’m throwing my hat in the ring. I’m entering my voice into the conversations of the day. With this blog, I add my voice to those commenting on a range of life situations, social issues, family matters, cultural shifts, global trends, and, of course, matters of faith, hope, and love in all settings. Basically, this blog is about whole-life spirituality.
Do we need another voice in an already saturated sea of commentators? No. However, as a pastor of a church, I am already a voice in a sea of commentators. I just haven’t used the blog format for this purpose until now. I’ve mostly had an occasional mission travel blog. So what I launch now is a work to speak into the human experience I pray is useful and faithful.
A Blog for You
I intend to write for any person who has or is seeking faith. I do not write specifically for the scholar or church leader. Others are writing for them. I know. I read and am grateful for their works. This blog is for the business person, student, homemaker, server, healthcare worker, and government employee who loves Jesus and is looking for a help to live well and faithfully to God. If that is you or you would like it to be, I look forward to sharing the journey of life with you. My prayer is that what God inspires me to write here, will inspire you to live a life of humility, faith, intellect, ease of spirit, civic engagement, and along the way, a good measure of fun. All of that in one person is sorely missing in the world today.
A POSITIVE VOICE OF HOPE
Behind the words on this blog is the same belief about God that drives all of my life as a Christian and ministry as a pastor. I believe God is sovereign and untamed, overflowing with fierce love, on the move in this world, and intimately involved in human lives. Because I believe that, I see the world differently. In a culture that seems to embrace despair and negativity, I am much more hopeful and positive. I want to help others see it that way too. This motivates me to build a community of people who see the world the same way and are thoughtful and passionate about life and faith and God. At the local level, the work of that community of people is inspiring worship, deep friendship, and a mission to bring about positive social change.
So, I now begin and invite you to journey with me. This platform for blogging is new, so as soon as I figure out how to do it, I'll invite you to subscribe to these posts. And so I begin!
